You can't reason with parents, the age gap, and life experience will forever make them tower over you, and look down upon what you do (expectations, responsibility, living under their rule, their domain). Rather they care about what your doing, or your smother is being a helicopter parent, they are going to always keep tabs on what you do, and ruin your "zone" (had the same issue you're having when I used to design blueprints for my architecture class, once my focus was pulled away from my work and force-focused on factor X, I couldn't get back into the mentality needed for creative design). Your best bet is going to always be to do your animating at night, on a laptop, in a control space. The only way you can explore personal freedom without intrusion, is to remove the malefactor. Humor your parents, it's better than getting mouthy or pushy with them, but do your real work at night while they sleep.

Your parents will never care about how "you feel" in terms of motive, focus, or dedication, because so far as they are concerned, they are being "good parents", and that means more to them than "whatever silly little distraction you're occupying yourself with this time". Eventually I learned (through trial, error and self realization) that control spaces are a must, this must not be negotiated: there is no solution otherwise. Later on when I began taking painting classes, I'd stay after at the studio and practice there on my own time, instead of going back home.
